grub-legacy software package provides GRand Unified Bootloader (Legacy version), you can install in your Debian 9 (Stretch) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install grub-legacy
grub-legacy is installed in your system.
Make ensure the grub-legacy package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep grub-legacy *
You will get with grub-legacy package name, version, architecture and description in a table
